The Amherst Police Department consists of 18 full-time officers along with 8 part-time officers and 8 civilian personnel.  If you are interested in being hired by the Amherst Police Department, Please send a current resume.  All resumes will be kept on file for one year. 

The Town of Amherst has a population of approximately 14,000 and is conveniently located in the south central portion of New Hampshire and covers approximately 34 square miles.   Amherst is bordered by the towns of Bedford, Hollis, Merrimack, Milford, Mont Vernon and New Boston.  Amherst is considered a commuter's suburb as highway access is easily obtained via Route 101 and Route 101A, with an estimated travel time to Boston, MA being 50 minutes.
